• Automation Systems Designer
  

  This position is responsible for the engineering of HVAC, Lighting, building integration for new construction and retrofit projects in the Greater Toronto Area.

Automation Systems Designer

POSITION SUMMARY:

The successful candidate for this position will apply their engineering knowledge and be provided with opportunities to learn about detailed HVAC process applications within commercial, industrial, institutional, government, and entertainment markets. RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Conduct detailed take-offs from Mechanical/Electrical/Control Specifications
• Interpret Engineered Drawings
• Produce detailed designs of Building Automation Systems.

Design work will include:

• Obtaining thorough knowledge of Mechanical/Electrical systems integration
• Producing accurate schematic diagrams
• Hardware selections of digital controllers and devices
• Integration of control points to a wide variety of complex systems
• Writing detailed sequences of operation
• Organizing all related equipment into schedules
• Preparing packages for ordering floor plan and equipment graphics
• Crossover exposure into other systems such as Information Technology and Internet connectivity.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Strong communication capability with ability to work with contractors, consulting engineers, project managers, programmers, and skilled trades.
• Knowledge of thermal dynamics and fluid dynamics.
• Knowledge of programming and writing operational code. Exposure to object oriented programs.
• Demonstrated ability to learn and apply basic design principles.

Previous experience in any of the following areas would be beneficial, but are not prerequisites: HVAC design, process applications, programming, construction, field exposure, detailed drawing design, networks and/or communications technology.
